Supported Contact Centres
Supported Contact Centres offer local venues
and facilities for Child Contact. These are voluntary
organisations, and Cafcass will only refer to and work with centres
that are accredited by the National Association of Child Contact
Centres.
Supported Contact Centres are not suitable for
any cases involving risk to children or adults; they do not
supervise contact or write reports, but offer facilities where a
family needs this for a defined period of time. They should
only be used where safe and beneficial contact for the child can
clearly take place.
Further information is available from the
NACCC website.
If a Contact Centre is in any doubt about a referral or
a current case they should discuss the case with NACCC or their
local Cafcass Office. In cases where there is an urgent child
protection issue the procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children
Board for the local authority must be followed.
