New Chief Executive
Jonathan Tross appointed Chief Executive and Accounting Officer
at Cafcass
5th September 2002
Jonathan Tross, Acting Chief Executive at
Cafcass since December 2001, has been appointed Chief Executive and
Accounting Officer for the organisation until July
2003. Cafcass will begin the recruitment
process to appoint a new Chief Executive in a permanent capacity in
the New Year.
This appointment follows the
termination of the contract of Diane Shepherd, the former Chief
Executive of Cafcass, on 24 July following a disciplinary
inquiry.
Commenting on these developments, Chairman,
Anthony Hewson OBE, said:
“Jonathan Tross has been a huge asset
to Cafcass over the last few months and demonstrated
exceptional leadership qualities during a difficult period. I
am delighted that Jonathan will continue to lead the organisation
at an operational level and work with the Board and all Cafcass
staff and practitioners to ensure that children’s interests are put
first.”
In response, Jonathan Tross said:
“Cafcass plays an invaluable role in
representing, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of
children. I have been impressed by the huge dedication shown
by all Cafcass staff and practitioners to children’s welfare and
feel privileged to have been offered the opportunity to continue to
work with the organisation on this important remit.”
