Extension of appointment of Jonathan
Tross as Chief Executive of Cafcass until July
2004
4 March 2003
The Cafcass Board, with the approval of the Lord Chancellor, is
pleased to announce the extension of the contract of Jonathan Tross
as Chief Executive of Cafcass until July 2004. This is one year
longer than previously announced.
The Chair of the Board, Anthony Hewson
said:
“Since Jonathan Tross joined us in
December 2001, Cafcass has made considerable progress. In the last
year we have attained a more secure financial base, issued and
conducted a major consultation exercise on a new corporate plan,
consulted widely on new standards, complaints and compliments
procedures, announced major harmonisation proposals to create an
integrated organisation giving us greater flexibility in operating
across public and private law boundaries to provide the best
service we can, conducted a major recruitment campaign for new
staff to increase our capacity, and put the relations with our self
employed guardians on a better basis with a new contract and
increases in fees.
“We are well aware that much remains to be
done in tackling our service shortfalls and shaping the improved
service all of us in Cafcass aspire to deliver. However, as we
approach the end of our second year we are confident that the
organisation is in much better health than a year ago. We shall
publish our first full corporate plan shortly and we are delighted
that the extension of Jonathan’s contract enables us to build more
quickly on what has already been achieved. There is a significant
and valuable benefit of continuity at the top of the Executive and
retention of Jonathan’s experience and commitment for a further
year.”
Commenting Jonathan Tross said:
“I have had a challenging and rewarding year
at Cafcass and have been pleased to make my contribution to
stabilising the organisation. I am grateful for the support I have
received throughout my time from the Board, our workforce and our
stakeholders. We now need to move on to complete the creation
a single cohesive organisation, and really start to deliver a
better service for all the children and families we exist to serve.
I look forward to playing my part in that.”
