Family Drug and Alcohol Court Profiled by Radio 4
Yesterday a BBC Radio 4 programme looked at the work of
the London Family Drug and Alcohol Court, in which Cafcass is
involved.
The Family Drug and Alcohol Court
(FDAC) focuses on providing intensive support through a
multi-disciplinary team of professionals to parents who are at risk
of having their children taken into care because of substance
misuse problems. The pilot project is run in conjunction with
Camden, Islington and Westminster councils, where research
undertaken by Brunel University found that two-thirds of care cases
in these boroughs were initiated because of substance misuse
problems.
