New Members Appointed to the Cafcass Board
Cafcass is pleased to
announce the appointment of six new members to its board. The role
of the board is to oversee Cafcass' practice improvement programme
and maintain its focus on the needs
of children.
Baroness Morgan, Children's Minister,
said:
"I am delighted to announce that,
following an open competition, the Secretary of State has appointed
Mark Eldridge, Mary MacLeod, Erica De'Ath, June Thoburn,
Shireen Ritchie and Prof. Ian Butler to the Cafcass Board.
"I am pleased that they will join Cafcass as it develops its role
in the family justice system and it pressing ahead with its
practice improvement plans. I look forward to meeting and working
with the Board members to develop the plans and continue the vital
work carried out by Cafcass."
Baroness Howarth, Chair of Cafcass,
said:
"The work of Cafcass is challenging
and it is reassuring to know that the existing Board will be joined
by members with complementary skills and experience.
"Each new appointee has demonstrated a clear commitment to children
and an organisational understanding of what has to be done to
deliver our services. As Chair I am encouraged that we have
such strong leadership to tackle the task ahead."
