Security and Data Protection

Cafcass requires all sensitive data is kept secure.  Security standards should be followed by those working for Cafcass, and these are set out in the Information Assurance Policy in Cafcass policies.

Secure email communication

All communication between Cafcass (and those working on behalf of Cafcass) and any other partner must be secure.  Self-employed  contractors must use a secure email account, and can set one up via the Criminal Justice Secure eMail (CJSM). The CJSM service allows non-Cafcass employees to send emails containing information up to an equivalent of ‘Restricted’ (i.e. sensitive data) securely. Guidance on setting up a CJSM account can be downloaded below.

Further information

Further information on any  data protection issues can be obtained by contacting The Governance team at: governance@cafcass.gsi.gov.uk.
