Cafcass thanks the FJYPB as it celebrates its 10th Anniversary
Cafcass thanks the Family Justice Young People’s Board (FJYPB) for their guidance and feedback as they celebrate their 10th anniversary. We recognise the major achievements and dedication of the FJYPB, whose members have improved and continue to influence our work with children, young people and families.
The FJYPB was established in 2011, with the aim of supporting the work of the Family Justice Board so that it provides the best experience for children in the family justice system. All members of the FJYPB are aged seven to 25 years old, live across England and Wales and have either had direct experience of the Family Justice system or have an interest in children’s rights and the family courts.
The FJYPB have worked with Cafcass on preparing a wealth of materials and events that have proved to be a great resource for children, families and professionals. These include the FJYPB glossary of terms, information booklets for children and young people on how to make the best of being at home during the pandemic and their ‘top tips’ on a range of practice issues developed to facilitate best practice for social workers.
Members of the Family Justice Young People’s Board said:
“The Family Justice Young People’s Board and its members are delighted to be celebrating 10 years of working with Cafcass to promote the voices and experiences of children. Although we are an independent body, we have worked closely with Cafcass as our sponsor over the past decade on areas such as practice reviews, resources for practitioners working with children and young people, and the recruitment of Cafcass colleagues from practitioners through to senior leaders. We are also fortunate to have a constructive relationship with Chief Executive Jacky Tiotto and the Cafcass Board, playing an active role in bringing the Voice of the Child to decision making at a senior level.
“We look back on the last decade with pride for the achievements we have made across the Family Justice system to promote positive outcomes for children and young people. At the same time, we look forward to the next decade working together to promote the Voice of the Child.”
Cafcass Chief Executive Jacky Tiotto added:
“Happy 10th anniversary to the absolutely brilliant Family Justice Young People’s Board. I want to personally thank the board and every single member, past and present, for the wisdom and knowledge that you have shared with us here at Cafcass. Your passion, focus on what is happening for children, your opinions, voices and feedback always remind us to consider what we are doing through the eyes and perspectives of children and young people. It is an honour to work alongside such exceptional and talented children and young people, and I am truly inspired by you all. I hope we continue to work closely together and to make a real difference – I am excited by your plans for the year ahead, especially the launch of your new resources later in the Autumn. We are so lucky to be able to work alongside you and the team you have supporting – thank you!”.
