Cafcass experts

Cafcass has a number of experts who are available for comment and media interviews (print and broadcast), both nationally and on a regional level. Our experts can comment on a variety of issues about children and young people including, though not restricted to:

  • The family courts: both public law, where it's often a question of whether or not a child will go into care due to an abusive or unsafe situation at home, and private law, which consist mainly of separating parents.
  • Children in care and the number of care applications made in England: Cafcass releases these statistics monthly; click here to see our figures.
  • Levels of private law applications (primarily concerned with contact and residence): Cafcass also tracks and releases these figures monthly.
  • Changes to legal aid within family court proceedings and litigants in person
