Family Court Adviser (Social Worker) – Brighton

We continue to closely monitor the situation surrounding the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and are following official guidance from the government and the advice given by Public Health England. We are continuing to recruit but are adapting our timescales and processes to reflect the guidance and advice. Therefore, if we progress your application we will engage with you remotely, either by telephone and/or video call.

Cafcass is committed to attracting, developing and retaining a motivated and diverse workforce. One of the ways in which we do this is offering staff the opportunity to grow and develop within the organisation and one such way this may be achieved is to move internally into different roles and/or teams.

We are currently recruiting Family Court Advisers for our teams based from Brighton covering Brighton.

We have multiple vacancies available. Further information is in the job description / person specification that you will find by going to ‘available documents’ above.

If you would like to informally find out more about this role, please contact Sorcha Morgan and they will be happy to discuss your potential interest in this role.

To apply for this role, please complete the online application form. This form will provide the Recruiting Manager(s) with the same information that was previously gained via an ‘Expression of Interest’ form. Please note we cannot accept applications by email, only by applying online but rest assured the process is quick and simple.

We encourage you to read the job description and take your time to answer the questions thoroughly. Please remember you do not need to complete your application in a single visit, you can always come back and revisit your responses before submitting. Just make sure you come back before the closing date and once you have submitted your application, you will not be able to make any changes.

In addition to your application form, when prompted please upload your current CV. Being able to view your CV alongside your application form will allow the Recruiting Manager(s) to a fair, robust assessment of your suitability for the role.

We’d like to let you know about some key dates so you know when you are likely to hear from us and when you might be required to be available for an interview.

  • Closing date – Wednesday 19 May 2021
  • Initial interview – As and When People Apply
  • Panel interviews – As and When People Apply

Please note all dates are subject to change so if you don’t hear from us, this does not automatically mean you have been unsuccessful and we will be in touch with you as quickly as we can to update you.

Please note we may close this vacancy prior to the advertised closing date should we feel we have sufficient applications. Our application process is very quick and simple and so encourage you to apply now.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals from diverse backgrounds as we strive to ensure our workforce reflects the diversity of the children and families we work with.

Please note, if you apply for more than one current FCA vacancy (maybe in different teams or parts of the country) as we can only progress one application at a time, you will be contacted to ask you to tell us which opportunity you wish to pursue. Please note if your application for one vacancy is unsuccessful, there may be limitations on when you can re-apply.

We would also like to remind staff that to be considered for another role within the organisation, you must be ‘confirmed’ in your current post.

Finally, if this opportunity is not right for you but you know of colleagues who might be interested, please share details with them. If you know of potential applicants outside of the organisation, please direct them to and if this vacancy is currently open to external candidates, they will be able to search and apply from there.
