Local Authority Workshop Event

Cafcass is hosting a collaborative knowledge-share workshop for local authority practitioners on working together with Cafcass and the family court in private law proceedings. This workshop is for qualified social work practitioners working with children and families in London across Children’s Social Care and is designed to educate and inform practitioners on key issues of importance. The event will cover:
 

  • How children become subject to Private Law Proceedings – types of applications
    and Orders sought by parents and other adults
  • A child’s journey through Private Law proceedings
  • Managing risks for children and families in Private Law Proceedings
  • The Family Court’s approach to domestic abuse
  • The role of a Local Authority in Private Law Proceedings, including when a Section
    37 Report is ordered
  • What makes a good Section 7 Report
  • Practice aids for assessing the risks arising to children through domestic abuse,
    and other forms of harmful parenting, including alienating behaviours
  • Confidence when giving evidence at Court
  • Working together to conclude children's proceedings

The Workshop will be facilitated by experienced Cafcass Practitioners in person at the London Cafcass office with training materials provided in advance. The date, location and timing of the event will be confirmed in due course
