Our mission: Exceptional Experiences, Everywhere, Every Time

At Cafcass, we exist to ensure that every child navigating family court proceedings receives outstanding support when they need it most. As a Family Court Adviser with us, you'll be at the heart of this mission – being the voice of children, assessing what's in their best interests, and providing crucial recommendations to the courts that prioritise their welfare, needs and wishes.

What you'll do as a Family Court Adviser:

  • Champion children's voices: Work directly with children using creative approaches to understand their wishes, ensuring they feel heard and valued in family court proceedings
  • Provide expert assessments and analysis: Assess complex family situations including safeguarding concerns, analyse risks and prepare comprehensive reports that guide judicial decisions
  • Collaborate and advocate: Work alongside legal professionals and families, attending court hearings to present your recommendations and build constructive relationships
  • Make a lasting impact: Shape outcomes that protect children's welfare and influence key decisions about their living arrangements, contact and safety

Meet our colleagues

By joining the Cafcass team, you'll be backed by an incredible group of experienced colleagues who are always on hand to help, guide and support you. Here, a few of them explain what it's like working at our London office and the highlights of working at England's largest employer of social workers:

“Working at Cafcass in London for 6 years (so far!) has been an incredible experience. I've been able to develop professionally, joining as a Newly Qualified Social Worker and moving recently into a management role, learning so much along the way. The people I've met along the way and had the privilege of working with have shaped my development and social work skills. Our new London office has been a hub of connectivity with great opportunities to meet colleagues in person for team meetings, reflections over coffee in our breakout spaces and engage with families in our purposefully designed and decorated family rooms. Working between home, our offices, and Courts around London means every day is different and I'm able to positively engage with other professionals and the amazing children and families we support each day.”

— Jessica Bomsztyk, Assistant Service Manager

"I love my job… it is a privilege to represent children and young people’s best interests in their proceedings."
