Cafcass publishes Annual Report and Accounts for 2020-21

Our Annual Report and Accounts for 2020-21 are now available here. They provide a summary to Parliament and the public on our activity for the financial year, including our work in supporting children and young people, our performance this year and our aspirations for future improvements across family justice.

The year 2020-21 was characterised by having to significantly adapt our work to cope with the unprecedented challenges brought about by the pandemic. We acknowledge that the environment has been incredibly difficult for the children and families with whom we work as they have faced delays and limited face-to-face contact. We have had to change as an organisation, pioneering new ways of working, whilst continuing to improve our services for the children and families that we serve.

A version of the Annual Report and Accounts for children will be made available and we thank the Family Justice Young People’s Board who helped with both the design and content of this report as well as providing such useful challenge to Cafcass throughout the year.

“The Annual Report and Accounts for 2020-21 pays tribute to the 143,000 children and young people that we have been honoured to work with through this challenging period. We have listened, learned, and changed to ensure the best quality of service.

“Our staff have shown an incredible willingness to undergo personal risks to ensure that we continue to deliver an essential service to children and families. The challenges of this year have taught us the fundamental importance of feedback and strengthened our relationship with our partners and those who are impacted by our work.

“We would like to thank the Family Justice Young People’s Board and staff across the organisation for their valued input into the report and their ongoing commitment and dedication to children and families throughout their proceedings.”
