On 8 September 2022, Buckingham Palace announced the death of Her Majesty The Queen. We are deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time

The Government has issued further guidance and information on the gov.uk website here: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Cafcass will be following Government guidance during the period of national mourning. We will be operating a business-as-usual service between now and the day of the State funeral on Monday 19 September. This means if you have an appointment scheduled with a Cafcass adviser during this time it will go ahead as planned, and our offices will be open as usual.

Monday 19 September is now a Bank Holiday. This means our offices will close as they do on every Public Holiday. If you have an appointment scheduled with a Cafcass adviser on 19 September, we will contact you directly to reschedule it. Normal service will resume from Tuesday 20 September.

Please note that apart from urgent operational activities, the family courts will also close on the day of the Queen’s funeral. If you have a hearing scheduled on this date, His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) will be in contact with you to let you know about your hearing and about when it is likely to be relisted.
