Cafcass shortlisted for Social Worker of the Year Awards
Cafcass is excited to announce that two nominees have been shortlisted for the Social Worker of the Year Awards. These awards recognise the hard work and positive impact that social workers have on the lives of vulnerable children, families and adults.
Daniel Kelly, Improvement Manager, National Improvement Service, was shortlisted for the Practice Leadership and Management Award, Children’s Services category.
Daniel was nominated for his significant contribution to the development of Cafcass social work practice, particularly within its work with families where domestic abuse is a risk to the safety and welfare of children. This includes the development of the Cafcass National Domestic Abuse Champions network which is a group of Cafcass social work practitioners who work alongside partners from SafeLives to embed and improve practice relating to domestic abuse. Daniel also helped develop improved domestic abuse resources for Cafcass social workers and led on delivering domestic abuse training.
The Scribe Project Team have also been shortlisted for an award in the category Technology-Enabled Lives and Innovation in Practice.
This relates to Cafcass’ work to develop a new communication tool called Scribe that is transforming how Cafcass colleagues communicate with children involved in family court proceedings.
Cafcass is delighted that this announcement follows so closely on from the news that four Cafcass colleagues have been named as finalists in the National Children and Young People Awards, showcasing the outstanding contribution of Cafcass colleagues to the social work sector.
Congratulations to Daniel and the Scribe Project Team and all the other finalists. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 17 October in Manchester, where the winners will be announced.
